Lots to Celebrate on Friday
Hello faithful readers!! Your prayers and positive thoughts toward my dad are really paying off, so please be diligent and keep 'em coming. Today there were lots of wins.... First off this morning he had a speech pathologist come by to test his ability to swallow whole foods. He was able to swallow pudding, ice chips, and applesauce. Yay!! He's cleared to eat soft solid foods! Second win was the physical therapist came and dad was able to move his ankles and feet, sat up, stood up, stepped side to side, and stretched his arms. Being as mobile as possible is huge in helping his body stay strong to fight his battle. Another big win, dad is out of the ICU!!! He has been moved to a larger private room which is much more quiet too. Lastly, he has been talking to us today and his feisty self has been showing up too!
Jenny, mom, and I are so thrilled at his progress, just like you probably are as you read this. He is on day 3 of chemotherapy and will only be able to have a very limited amount of visitors from here on out. His immune system is taking lots of hits and the more people around him the more he is exposed to, which could be dangerous. Thank you for all of your prayers and your well wishes. Any comment you share on here we are reading to him each night. We love you all! Nicole and Jenny

ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear about Bill's progress..thank you so much for the updates..we'll continue to pray for progress...look forward to many more fun times at the beach with Bill and Louise
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic news! Just want Bill and Louise to know I spoke to Doug Miller last week and let him know what's going with Bill. He thinks the world of both of you and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteGary and I are praying daily for Bill and look forward to hearing that the chemotherapy has done it's job.
Bill, in the 20+ years I've known you, you've meet challenges head-on and always persevere. You are strong-willed and determined! You have the support of Louise, Nicole and Jenny. They are a blessing and strength for you. Then there are the granddaughters you adore, and the many friends and other family who are praying for you and sending their love. SO you equipped and ready. Go kick ass!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. So glad things are looking better. My prayers are with you all. With so many people behind you, you can beat this!!!
ReplyDeleteA HUGE pat on the back for my aunt and cousins! Every day, these three are in the trenches! They have been answering questions, responding to family, controlling visitors, communicating with doctors and nurses, and trying to be so respectful at the same time!
ReplyDeleteFYI TO ALL: My uncle is making wonderful progress, BUT with chemo, he is now at a very exposed and sensitive state....SO THE DOCTOR is asking for NO visitors for a while!
Respectfully, my family has been so accommodating and truly amazing....BUT they truly need a break! This next week, both girls will attempt to get through their work week while at the same time balancing their families and caring for Uncle Bill! They will be tired! Prayers to Uncle Bill and all whom have expressed their support!
At this point, please use this blog, text, email, etc...to show your support! The prayers are working (you truly have no idea)!!! God is Great!
PS. Funny stuff....yesterday, I poked fun at Uncle Bill a lil and Aunt Louise says to him...."no...he's my George Clooney!"..... So uncle Bill, appearing to be sedated and sort of sleeping, wakes up a lil, opens his eyes just enough, and says "HA...Brad Pit!" Super funny! Leave it to him to joke during a time like this!
Faith...Family....Friends
Just learned of Bill's illness and was deeply saddened. I will be praying for your Father and all of you. You are a strong beautiful family and I am so happy he is progressing. Thank you for creating the blog of Bill's Journey I will watch it closely. I pray that God gives all of you the strength you need to get through each day as I know Bill is in great hands. Many Thoughts and Prayers from The Alsup Family.
